Journalist Luka Nikolic of Meridian Sport Global had revealed how Novak Djokovic had a fever the night before the semi-final loss at the Australian Open 2024 against Jannik Sinner.

The journalist said he had been ill for three weeks, then had a relapse. And that's why he played like that in the first two sets: he was visibly weak, he wasn't capable. In those conditions, it was not possible for him to play well, as Nikolic revealed

Goran Ivanisevic, coach of the Serbian champion, directly took care of denying these rumors and clarifying things.

"Sooner or later Novak had to lose, we were all aware of it. It's just a shame that it happened like this, but against Sinner if you're not at 100% you don't have much chance. And even when you're at 100%, you can still lose," he said. the former Wimbledon champion told the Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti.

"However, the whole Australian Open, somehow, was not easy for Novak, from the first round onwards. But that's okay, let's move on, it's nothing that tragic. Problems? No, nothing bothered him, he was healthy, but something was simply wrong. It can happen to him too, he's flesh and blood. On the other hand, if he had to lose to someone, I'm happy that Sinner was the chosen one," he added.

Djokovic, as reported by the official website, will return to the court directly at the Masters 1000 in Indian Wells and will not participate in the ATP 500 tournament in Dubai.
