Holger Rune and Patrick Mouratoglou will return to work together, after their separation in August 2023. The Danish had announced the entry of Kenneth Carlsen into his team, but yesterday he sensationally decided to return to working with Serena Williams' former coach, who decided to welcome the young Dane back. Even though Rune had harshly criticized him after the end of their collaboration.

The separation from Boris Becker and Severin Lithi had created many debates around the young Rune, who is trying to find his tennis again after a period of crisis.

Alongside Patrick Mouratoglou, Rune won two titles, including the most important of his short career so far, the ATP Masters 1000 in Paris Bercy, beating Novak Djokovic in the final. The separation from the Frenchman took place in April 2023, but things did not go as Rune hoped. So here they are together again, mending a relationship that seemed to have fallen apart, before the final separation in August 2023.

Shortly after the announcement of this news, the first words from those directly involved also arrived, explaining why they wanted to try again.

"Everyone knows that I am determined to win Grand Slam titles and reach world number one. To do that, I need to have the right coaching partnership and the right team around me. Sometimes you have to try a few things to figure out what works and what doesn't.

Over the past few months I have learned a lot about what works for me and I believe Patrick is the best person to lead the team and help me achieve my goals. Mouratoglou will be the head coach, while Kenneth Carlsen will assist the team for any need," explained Rune, officially closing his staff.

Mike James, data analyst, and Lapo Beccherini, member of the Mouratoglou Academy, will also be part of the team.

"I am thrilled to start a new collaboration with Holger. We have known each other since I was 13 years old and I have always believed in his potential. He has big goals, and I have them for him too," declared Mouratoglou who will try to push his student a few steps higher than he had before.

Rune will leave with his new team in Acapulco, where he will defend his semi-final, and then fly to America where the ATP Masters 1000 tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami await him.

The former Serena Williams and Simona Halep coaches also forgave Holger Rune for criticizing his work ethic during their initial split.

Through an Instagram post, Mouratoglou said that he and Rune will work together for Acapulco, and two ATP Masters 1000s in Indian Wells and Miami.
"I am excited to start a new collaboration with Holger Rune. We have known each other since he was 13 years old and I always believed in his potential. He has high goals and so do I for him. It is the start of a new adventure. See you guys in Acapulco, Indian Wells and Miami," wrote the Frenchman.

A fan criticized the French coach for the choice, responding to Mouratoglou's statement on Instagram: "Talk bad about Netflix, saying patrick is lazy and just sits and now work together again, don't you understand?”

Mouratoglou, responding to the fan, said: "Anyone can make a mistake. I forgive."
