Iga Swiatek will challenge Maria Sakkari in the final of the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells. The Pole literally destroyed Marta Kostuyk for 6-2 6-1.

The match lasted an hour and nine minutes and was never actually in question. Kostyuk also received medical attention in the second set for a foot problem. But a couple of facts describe the match perfectly: Swiatek didn't concede any break points during and only lost 10 points on serve. The last No. 1 seed to win the title was Victoria Azarenka in 2012.

During the on-court interview, Swiatek said she was excited and proud of the performance given to the crowd at the Indian Wells Garden.

"I'm proud of myself and really excited. I think it was an amazing match for me today. I have all good vibes," she told

Swiatek also talked about the opponent she would have found in the final (she still didn't know if she was Coco Gauff or Maria Sakkari- ed.)

"There is no preference. It would be stupid for me to say anything. Both of these players are really great and experienced, so they will fight today and they will fight in the final, regardless of who is there. So it will still be tough," she told.

Swiatek also talked about Steffi Graff, praising the former German star.

"Well, her mentality and how she handled, you know, suddenly being the best player around and how she felt on a personal level," she explained.

Sakkari beats Gauff, to get the Indian Wells final

The second semi-final of the WTA 1000 in Indian Wells pitted the US Coco Gauff against the Greek Maria Sakkari.

Maria Sakkari won and qualified for her second final of the BNP Paribas Open after winning with a score of 6-4, 6-7, 6-2. The match between Swiatek and Sakkari will be a repeat of the 2022 final, clearly won by the Polish player.

At 40-30 on serve for the Greek player, an interruption of the game due to rain sent the two tennis players briefly to the locker rooms.

When play resumed, Sakkari won the first set 6-4. In the second set, Sakkari took a 5-2 lead with a double break, but Gauff came back in the set. The American won four consecutive games and saved three match points before winning the tie break and taking the match to the deciding set. Sakkari, in the third set, did not lose her composure, she took a 4-1 lead and closed 6-2.
