"It's definitely not the ending I wanted, but playing against him is always tough. I tried to play good tennis, which I did especially in the first set. Then I made a couple of errors and the momentum changed. He he raised the level. It's hard to stomach, but in the next few days I'll understand if I'll be physically fit for the Miami tournament. I'm really happy for Carlos, because he's a great player and a good guy."

At the press conference Jannik Sinner analyzed the defeat suffered in three sets against Carlos Alcaraz, in the semi-final of the BNP Paribas Open, the first ATP Masters 1000 of the season to be played on the Californian hard-courts of Indian Wells.

Sinner dominated the first set, previously interrupted by rain after three games. But in the second and third sets, the young Italian committed many unforced serves, especially with his first serve.

"He has changed some things tactically and I will have to analyze them to improve and try to beat him again," he added.

Sinner immediately started thinking about the next time he will find Carlos Alcaraz on the other side of the net, as his goal is always to try to improve to raise the level and continue to make history.

Sinner analyzed the defeat against Alcaraz

Sinner suffered their first defeat of the season in the match valid for access to the final of the BNP Paribas Open, interrupting their streak of 19 consecutive victories, 16 consecutive from the beginning of 2024. The Spaniard did well to react after collecting just one game in the first set and ended Sinner's unbeaten run in 2024 with a score of 1-6, 6-3, 6-2.

"I have maintained a positive attitude during this series of victories, but also now after losing in the semi-finals in Indian Wells. I am already focused on my next tournament. I am grateful for what I am doing. There are times when you win and other times when you lose. The most important thing is to give 100%. I like these matches," said Sinner.

Jannik finally provided some information on the elbow discomfort he felt after an unfortunate fall

"At the moment I feel everything on my body! But it's normal, it's part of the sport and you have to accept it. I had some problems, small problems, but everything was fine until the third set. When I fell, I felt something in my elbow because I fell on it. I had trouble serving after that. He, obviously, made it more difficult because he puts a lot of pressure on you. He changed some things tactically and I will have to analyze them to improve and try to beat him again," he explained.
