Tomas Berdych has embarked on a new path as a coach and is collaborating continuously with his countryman Jiri Lehecka, one of the best young players on the ATP Tour and current number 27 in the ATP world ranking.

"I think I can pass on my experience to the younger generations. I like new challenges. Lehecka? We have a similar style of play and I really appreciate his personality," revealed the Czech in an exclusive interview with Uomo Sport.

Berdych also focused on his life after tennis outside the playing court.

"I finally got to go to places I've always wanted to visit. I started playing a lot of golf and appreciating my passion for cars. All these things have always attracted me, and now that I have time I can dedicate myself to them," he told.

Lehecka will play at the Miami Open, the 2nd ATP Masters 1000 of the season, these days. We recall that last week he reached the quarter-finals at the BNP Paribas Open, played on the Californian hard-courts of Indian Wells.

Berdych played in an era full of stars

Berdych played his last official match at the US Open in 2019. The Czech tennis player was part of a probably unrepeatable era and often found himself competing with Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.

Judgments against him have often been too harsh, as if prevailing over the Big 3 was an easy task. In his career Berdych has won 13 titles, including the ATP Masters 1000 in Paris-Bercy in 2005. In the Slams, however, he reached a final at Wimbledon in 2010, a semi-final at Roland Garros and at the US Open, and two semi-finals at the Australian Open.
