Daniil Medvedev had the merit of not letting himself be influenced by Cameron Norrie's comeback attempt and reached the fourth round at the Miami Open by beating Cameron Norrie and showing clear improvements in his net game. The first set proved to be complicated, and he then dominated the second set.

"I think overall the service wasn't that bad. The first serve, in particular, was quite good. Cameron is one of those players who responds well. The positive thing is that when he started to come back in the first set, in his best moment, I was able to regroup and win 7-5 avoiding the tie-break. If you lose serve but still break your opponent six times in two sets, my opinion remains positive," explained Medvedev in the post-match interview,.

The Russian the focused on the improvements he is trying to make to his tennis.

"Against Cameron it's not easy to go to the net. He gives you a medium ball and you think you can do it, but then he manages to pass you. So I was cautious from this point of view, but when I had the opportunity I went to the net. I'm improving a lot at the net this year, it's a part of my game I want to improve," he analyzed.

The match

Leading by two breaks, the Russian began to struggle on serve and found himself at 5-5, despite the incredible start. However, Medvedev managed to raise the level in the most important moment of the match and avoided the tie-break.

The Briton did not react and, in the second set of the game, he completely surrendered, obtaining only one game. Medvedev's goal is to confirm himself in Miami where last year he defeated Jannik Sinner in the final. The Russian will meet Dominik Koepfer in the 4th round. The German beat Ugo Humbert with a score of 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.
