The heart of an old lion always speaks with pride and the desire to inspire the younger generation. In an interview for Express Sport, three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka made some interesting comments related to his future in tennis. The Swiss champion explained that he still wants to be on the field to be able to inspire young people and that he is still eager to compete against them.

"There are always goals. I think as an athlete it's important to set goals. The ones I had ten years ago are not the same as today, especially after the many injuries and surgeries in recent years. I think it's also a good example for young people: you want to show them that just because you get older doesn't mean the passion has to disappear," said Stan.

"Let's not forget that when I started playing tennis, it was about playing, playing with my friends, being passionate and having fun, and it's still like that. I think it's important to remind young players that when you want to dream something, when you're passionate, you have to do it. I think young people who want to dream need to understand that no matter what you achieve, no matter how old you are, no matter where you are, you have to do what's right for your career," added Wawrinka.

Regarding the possible retirement of the British Murray, Wawrinka said he is not convinced that this will happen: "As for him, I'm not sure he will stop this summer. I think he made the announcement in the heat of the moment after losing a game, but I'm not sure he'll stop this summer. I think it's because he is passionate about the game and has mixed feelings depending on the outcome. It's not easy to manage emotions. But I think as long as he has passion and feels competitive, he will continue."

I know, Wawrinka really doesn't want to know about retiring. In a particular period of tennis history, where legends like Andy Murray and especially Rafael Nadal are close to their farewell, the Swiss is still far from making this kind of decision.
