"It's definitely a tough draw for Rafael Nadal, but I'll be rooting for him. Sorry, Alexander Zverev! We'll see. I don't know that much about Alexander Zverev's tennis to know what this match could be like. I mean, he's a great player.. I don't know if he'll be rusty or not. It's the first round so you never know. We'll see it more from a fan perspective than to analyze it."

At the Roland Garros media day, the Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek talked about many times, one of which is the highly anticipated first round between the 14-time champion of the tournament Rafael Nadal and the German Alexander Zverev. Iga - who has always candidly admitted that she is a fan of Rafa - said that she will support the Spaniard in the match against the German, apologizing to Zverev.

Iga Swiatek also praised Beatriz Haddad Maia at the same Parisian Slam media day, explaining how she is someone who makes the locker room a nice place to be.

"As for Beatriz, she is a great player and a great person. Every time we play against each other it's a difficult match. In Madrid we saw that she likes to play on clay and is a great player on this surface. Also, you know, last year's semi-final was intense too. So it's always a challenge to play against her. But overall, off the court, she's one of those people who really makes the locker room good. Yes, we'll see if we play soon enough," she added.

In the post-match of the Internazionali BNL d'Italia final won against Aryna Sabalenka, Swiatek shared interesting considerations on the upcoming Roland Garros.

"I know I will be the favorite because I come as number 1 in the world, I have great confidence and I am playing excellent tennis. I know that Slams are different and that's why I want to stay humble and focus. I don't take anything for granted, I will have to work very hard if I want to win there. This year I'm much less focused on everything related to the ranking and the points I defend in each tournament.

Last year I played a bit anxiously this period because I felt that they could take away the number 1 from me and I gave too much importance to this. I have improved on this compared to last year. These are never useful thoughts, it means wasting energy. It gave me confidence to finish 2023 well because it showed me that, even if you come from bad tournaments, things can always change," she analyzed.

Swiatek also opened up about her rivalry with Aryna Sabalenka. As to whether their rivalry would become one of the greatest in tennis history, the Pole said how she and the Belarusian focus only on their tennis.

"For sure when we play against each other, I feel like it's a challenge. I think it also pushes me to become a better and better player, so I think we both need each other to grow. But this rivalry is certainly exciting for the fans too. I imagine if it ends up in the history books, they'll have some impact on it too. We'll see if it ends up in the history books, because honestly, I don't think Aryna or I are focusing on that. We focus more on our travels. But for sure if you play well, and we are playing well with consistency we will face each other in important matches. I think it's great, because she's been No.2 for a long time and she's already shown that she can play great tennis," she explained.
