On the media day of the Roland Garros 2024, the Kazakh tennis star Elena Rybakina analyzed her state of physical fitness, explaining however that she had some regrets regarding her 2024 tennis season. In particular, the media asked Elena how she felt about not being able to defend some titles due to a physical problem, during the season.

"Now I feel much better, and it's always a shame to miss these big tournaments. But if there are health problems, then nothing can be done. We're practicing. Nothing new, guys. So what more can I tell you?" she explained.

Recently Rybakina, defending champion of Internazionali BNL d'Italia, announced her last minute withdrawal from the main draw.

"The player is forced to withdraw from the tournament due to illness and she was replaced by Oceane Dodin. We wish our 2023 champion a speedy recovery," said the board of the Italian WTA 1000 in a social media statement.

"Unfortunately I don't feel well enough to compete. I have great memories of last year and I was very keen to defend my title. Rome is so special to me and I can't wait to return next year to win the title back and playing in front of the Italian fans," said Elena.
