"I've been preparing for this moment for weeks but you're never really ready when you have to say goodbye. It's a page in my book celebrating 20 years of professional tennis. But 30 years in reality, because I started playing when I was 4. Now I leave all this behind. Obviously I would have liked to have won and put on a better show. It took a lot of effort and sacrifices It's been a lot of ups and downs. Thank you for being here."

Alize Cronet's tennis career at the Roland Garros ended today, amidst the general emotion of the crowd who came to see the French tennis player's last match on the Philippe Chatrier. Alize, close to retiring from tennis, was defeated by the young Chinese Qinwen Zheng but, at the end of the match, the crowd was all behind her.

"I was already in tears after the Rafa Nadal match. Now I have more tears. So many emotions. I had the extraordinary luck of being able to go through all this. I just watched all those videos. I'm just overwhelmed with emotions. Because I saw what I saw done there and I'm really proud of what I achieved," she told on the on-court interview.

Zheng, her opponent, congratulated the Frenchman on her career successes, spending beautiful words: "Congratulations for all the success in your career. Congratulations for having played so many good matches here at the French Open. All of us we will not forget you. Thank you for today, we showed a good game. I hope you will enjoy life after retirement."

Cornet has won 6 titles in her career, her best ranking was 11th position, while in the Slams her best result was the quarter-final at the Australian Open 2022. Among her best achievements, we remember she won the BJK cup 2019 , the Hopman Cup 2014, she was the only player to beat No.1 Serena Williams 3 times in a row and she stopped Iga Swiatek's 37 win streak.
