"It's clear that if he plays his best tennis he's by far the favourite. We've already played two matches, they were two excellent matches but he was always stronger than me, even though I think I played well. I hope this is a great event for me, it's incredible to think of returning to the center of the pitch and playing against Jannik Sinner. I will try to enjoy this great opportunity that is given to me to return to the Philippe-Chatrier. I will be on the most important court against an exceptional rival."

Richard Gasquet talked in the press conference about the next match that awaits him: the 2nd round of the Roland Garros against Jannik Sinner. A slightly different match compared to the previous ones in Indian Wells and Halle, both won by the Italian, who conceded only one set to the Frenchman on the grass of the German tournament last year. The stage is very special for the expert French tennis player, who will want to give some joy to the home crowd, ready to support him despite the match being on paper prohibitive against the number 2 in the world.

Gasquet took 3 hours and 25 minutes to beat Borna Coric in the first round of the Parisian Major and, in a press conference, he analyzed his victory.

"If he had won the third set, I knew that the fourth could have become very complicated. I had to take the opportunity and I did, so I'm happy to have been good in the important moments. I've worked a lot on my fitness this season, I've played around 30 games since the start of the calendar and it has certainly allowed me to have better results than in previous years. This victory is a beautiful memory for me. I'm not that young anymore, so I don't know if I'll be able to experience these moments again," he explained.
