"Establishing now who between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will win more is really difficult. They have very different mental approaches but, regardless of the differences, theirs is a dream rivalry for all of us. Tennis of the present and the future is in good hands , that's what matters: we will never get bored and we will continue to get excited."

In an interview given to the Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, former tennis star Mats Wilander expressed his opinion on the rivalry between the Italian and the Spaniard. A rivalry that now takes on a new dimension. Sinner has just become ATP No.1, dethroning Novak Djokovic (the Serbian withdrew from the Roland Garros due to a knee injury - ed.) and is projected towards the semi-final of the Parisian Major.

Sinner and Alcaraz, both No.1 and Slam winners, are ready to take charge of the present of tennis. With Rafael Nadal now close to retiring and an epic Novak Djokovic who is inexorably starting to have some physical breakdowns. Alcaraz and Sinner are the two best talents of the new generation, who are slowly taking over the scene left by the Big 3 after about 20 years of absolute domination. Jannik and Carlitos continue to be Novak Djokovic's main antagonists especially in the Majors

"I'm sure the two will alternate in the lead for a long time. However, based on what we saw Sinner do this year and also during last season, there is a possibility that Jannik could be a little more solid during career. Alcaraz could potentially be more prone to injuries due to his way of playing. If Carlos is unable to play through the full seasons, then it is clear that Sinner could occupy the number one role more permanently." added Wilander.
