"I have never felt like this on the court, only two other players made me feel these feelings. I tried to show my best version and do many different things on the court. I don't think that putting more force on the ball is the solution, because he is very fast and recovers every ball."

This is the summary of the sensations experienced on the court by Stefanos Tsitsipas in the match he lost against Carlos Alcaraz, in the quarter-final of the Roland Garros. For the sixth time out of six matches played, the Greek did not find the countermeasures to put the dreamer in difficulty. Tsitsipas said he was incredulous at the level expressed by the Spaniard. At the press conference, the Greek was impressed by the level of the Spaniard, an opponent who has the power to never make him feel at ease on the court.

Tsitsipas explained that he had prepared the match with the confidence and hope of finally fighting on equal terms with Alcaraz, but that the court issued the same verdict as always.

"I think the quality of my shots is among the best in the world, but every time I play against Carlos I see things that I don't see in other rivals. His shots are deeper, he is capable of being patient in building points and I can't find a way to counter his tennis. I need to overcome this mental barrier to beat him in the future. I can't play my tennis against him, it's like someone doing voodoo towards me. He has spectacular ball control, changes direction with ease.

The way he builds points reminds me a bit of Novak Djokovic. His tactical intelligence is also incredible. He always has the right answer, it's difficult to face him. I felt good and came into this match with confidence. I was convinced that I could put Carlos in trouble, but the boy is too good: that's the truth. I can only congratulate him on how well he plays and I wish him the best. Every time I face Carlos I understand how to improve as a tennis player," he explained.
