"He has always managed to recover quickly from injuries and has always come back stronger than before. I wish him a speedy recovery, I hope we can enjoy his tennis again as soon as possible. I was surprised that he retired, because he ended up playing very good against Cerúndolo. This is tennis. It is a great disappointment for all tennis lovers not to be able to admire him in the semifinals."

Carlos Alcaraz, at the end of the match with Stefanos Tsitsipas, wanted to dedicate a beautiful message to Novak Djokovic, in the press conference. The young Spaniard's hope is to see the Serbian champion back on the court and at his maximum level, underlining how Nole's absence from the Roland Garros semi-final was a bitter disappointment for all tennis fans. Djokovic had to give up the quarter-final against Casper Ruud. A painful and sad decision, but necessary due to the severity of the knee injury, which forced him to undergo surgery.

The Serbian champion won two tough matches in the fifth set against Lorenzo Musetti and Francisco Cerundolo, respectively in the 3rd and 4th rounds of the Parisian Major. In the latter case, however, a slip worsened the knee problem which turned into a rather serious injury. The hope is to see Djokovic back on the court already at Wimbledon, but everything will depend on the path he decides to follow to resolve the situation. Giving up the London Slam and, above all, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games would be a hard blow for the Belgrade native to digest.

"I am really sad to announce that I have to withdraw from Roland Garros. I played with my heart and gave my all in yesterday's match and unfortunately, due to a tear in the medial meniscus of my right knee, my team and I have had to make a difficult decision after careful consideration and analysis. I wish the best of luck to the players competing this week and thank the incredible fans for all their love and continued support. See you soon. With love and gratitude, Nole," wrote the Serb through an Instagram post.
