Grigor Dimitrov, at the age of 33, has reached the quarterfinals in all Grand Slam tournaments, finally managing to add those at Roland Garros to his resume. The Bulgarian tennis player seems to have found that balance he has been looking for for quite some time and is handling his matches with much more maturity by consistently expressing a high level of play.

Recently, Grigor was asked if he felt unlucky to find himself in the era of the Big Four (Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray): "Quite the opposite.

I've been very lucky. How many times can you say you've played against the best players in the world and beaten them all? It's great. I'm sorry but I can live with it. The titles are very nice but the journey without them is a bit sad.

It's not that I want to compare myself with them but it's sad. I love watching them play, competing against them, you always learn something" he said. He then added: "Over the years I've had so many quarterfinals and third rounds where I had to battle with them.

That has shaped me mentally and in what I have to do in different periods of my career. You can learn a lot from each one, they have their own way of doing things but they all have incredible qualities. They are the pioneers of today's tennis. Having players like them adds spectacular diversity".

Grigor Dimitrov on his recent rise

Grigor Dimitrov lost to Jannik Sinner in the quarter finals of the 2024 French Open. During a long interview with Tennis Channel, Grisha reflected on his recent rise: "I'm also at the age where I think maturity, experience and love for the sport comes. You try to understand more about yourself, more about your surroundings, more about who you want to be around, the advantages of certain things, disappointment and how to handle things.

Nothing is ever that good, but nothing is ever that bad either. Everyone has a good heart and all that, but it also depends on how you use it and how you express yourself. I think for me this part has always been very strong. I always wanted to continue like this, taking the risk of being on the wrong side of some people and being judged.”
