Although the rain plagued the WTA matches in 's-Hertogenbosch, the most anticipated challenge of the quarterfinals was exciting to say the least. The returning Bianca Andreescu beat Naomi Osaka with a score of 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (3). The break scored in the seventh game made the difference in the first set, even if Andreescu did well to erase a break point at 5-4.

The Japanese reacted like a champion, immediately gaining the 5-0 lead in the second set. Only the third set tie-break decided the dispute. Tie-break ended 7-3 in favor of the Canadian. Andreescu will face Dalma Galfi in the semifinals.

In the post-match interview, Bianca analyzed the challenge, honestly admitting that she won because that was probably her day. The Canadian explained how she played well on serve and return, underlining how the level expressed on the court by both tennis players was high.

"I think I did well on serve and return. The first shots are very important. It was just my day, I guess. Naomi could have won tomorrow. I guess it was just my day. I feel very, very good. Playing against someone like her, at least now I know what my level is in a way. Being my second tournament, I'm not complaining. Thank you all for the support. It means a lot. I think the level was very high from both of us today. We could have won, I said, 'whatever happens, I just want to give it my all."
