In a few hours Jannik Sinner will make his tournament debut as world number one. The Italian tennis player from San Candido has made history in Italian tennis and sports, but he is only 22 years old and so eager to grow and make new achievements.

In Paris, the Italian won the top spot in the rankings-accompanied by Novak Djokovic's injury-but he also piled on the disappointment of losing to longtime rival Carlos Alcaraz, who won over him in five sets in the semifinals.

In tennis, there is no time to feel sorry for yourself, and after Roland Garros the grass season has begun, and Sinner is one of the most anticipated men. Last year the Italian tennis player reached the semifinals here at Wimbledon but was never then able to really challenge Djokovic.

The Italian had yet to experience that exploit that has taken him to the world summit in recent months. Now there is great anticipation for him, starting with the Atp tournament in Halle, where - despite everything - he remains one of the tournament favorites.

Jannik Sinner is ready for Halle

Halle is a historic tournament for grass tournament fans, every year he splits his time between the German tournament and the Queen's and this year the tournament will see interesting protagonists. The draw for Jannik Sinner is not easy, starting from the first match against the Dutchman Griekspoor, particularly at ease here, and many other rivals such as Tsitsipas, Medvedev or Zverev.

In short, the road to the final victory is not easy, we could say quite the opposite. However, Jannik Sinner can make history here in Halle and follow in the footsteps of a tennis legend like Roger Federer. The Swiss has won this tournament several times and is the only one to have won the Halle tournament as number one in the world.

Sinner is number one and can try to follow in his footsteps, the fans hope so. The Italian can reach yet another record in his young career.

"The first day you have to make the movements on the surface and it's difficult, especially when you play the first rounds against players who have played on grass before. They have some feeling, but this is a place where they believed in me, they gave me a wild card in the qualifiers in the past. So I'm happy to come back here and I hope I can show good tennis right away” – Sinner said during the press conference.
