Roger Federer and Jannik Sinner have something in common, regardless of tennis. In some ways the young Italiani reminds me of the Swiss Maestro; the composure, the demeanor, the class. Regardless of the two very different types of tennis, there is something in their character that they definitely have in common.

Federer granted an interview to Italian media Gazzetta dello Sport, in which he spoke both about Sinner and the growth of Italian tennis, underlining how the new ATP No.1 deserves the throne of men's tennis.

"The number 1 in Sinner is excellent news for tennis, especially that the new ATP No.1 is an Italian. All this shows that the great work done in recent years and the organization of many tournaments in Italy has led to good results. Just think of how many Italians are emerging in this period. Not only Sinner but also Cobolli, Nardi, Arnaldi, Musetti, Sonego and Berrettini and maybe I'm even forgetting someone. Italy can count on a very strong generation, and they have the number 1 in the world. Sinner deserves it, he is playing great and is a very good boy, very sweet. I follow it with great interest. Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz could be like me and Rafael Nadal, it can be a possibility, I think every tennis player has their own rivalries and it's still early. Sinner and Alcaraz are very young and respect each other a lot, they started off on the right foot and theirs promises to be a great rivalry," explained the Swiss Maestro, underlining the growth of all Italian tennis.

Meanwhile, Sinner returned to the court today in the Halle tournament, a tournament that pitted him against the Dutch Tallion Griekspoor. Jannik, over the years, has always shown great growth on this surface and now the media and insiders are curious to see his improvements on grass-courts.

About Federer, we remind you that from 20 June, Prime Video will make available the docu-series concerning the last twelve days of Federer's career who, as we all know, withdrew from the 2022 Laver Cup.
