In a few hours, on the Centre Court of Wimbledon, will stage the highly anticipated derby between Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berrettini. On the one hand the current number one in the world and this year’s winner of the Australian Open, on the other a player who on the grass has achieved his best successes (including the final in this Slam in 2021).

Fate has been rather cruel towards them, who will have to meet already in the second round and for one of them it will already be time to leave the prestigious competition. On the great battle between the South Tyrolean and the Roman, Adriano Panatta expressed his considerations in an interview granted to Libero: "Matteo is not the same player three years ago, let’s be honest.

I wish him to go back to that but in today’s derby he is an underdog. And I’m sorry, it would have been nice to see a match match," said the former tennis player, pointing to the 22-year-old San Candido as the main favorite to enter the third round.

The 73-year-old Italian then analyzed the qualities of the two Italian athletes: "Berrettini’s service remains a brick thrown from the eleventh floor of a skyscraper. At that of Sinner do 8.5, he is working on this hit with a maniacal determination, knowing that in times of difficulty it can be a salvific plan B.

His forehand, then, is sharp and fast in impact, while Matteo, if physically fine, expresses one of the most natural straight in the history of tennis, an improper and devastating weapon. The reverse is the best shot of Sinner, harmonic in its construction: Per Berrettini was a weak point, improved three years ago and, now, brought a lot in slice".

How are you really? Bluffing? And your newly operated knee? At 37 he is not the Joker of the good days but I would always be afraid to cross the racket with one who won seven times at the Centre Court" he concluded.
