It was only the second round of a Grand Slam tournament but for some it was the best match of the year, we could say probably the most beautiful match in history between two Italian tennis players. Matteo Berrettini and Jannik Sinner divided us in the cheer, the draw immediately put us in front of this in some ways sad event, but at the same time it was a challenge that gave us many emotions.

On the one hand, Jannik showed he could react to difficult times, he experienced great difficulties but he played better the decisive points. On the other, and maybe this was the best hope for everyone: Matteo Berrettini is still there, he plays a match as if it were a final and we could say that in this version maybe only 2-3 tennis players beat him in the ATP tour.

Jannik Sinner had to sweat

In the post match press conference, as reported by Gazzetta dello Sport, Jannik Sinner praised the opponent and said: "It was a tough game, he played and served above all very well. I made a few too many mistakes in the third set and his confidence grew but it was a great game and I’m happy to have won it in four sets".

Speaking of the match again Jannik Sinner explains: "We both expected a high level, he moves very well here and as it went, the level was much higher than a second round. Unfortunately, we can’t control the draw.

Against Matteo, a great grass player, even the small details make the difference. Fortunately it went well". Finally, a backstory on the partner and friend: "It’s great to see him play at these levels. It was very nice, we started the match with a smile and ended it the same way. If he continues to play like this, he will go high again. I hope to find him again".
