After two consecutive defeats - very painful - in the final at Wimbledon, the Tunisian Ons Jabeur was eliminated by Elina Svitolina in the 3rd round, losing in straight sets, in a match dominated by the Ukrainian tennis player in the first set (6-1) and much more balanced in the second set, won by Svitolina in the tie-break (7-6(4).

At the press conference after the defeat, Ons revealed how difficult it was to return to play on the Centre Court after losing the Wimbledon final last year against Marketa Vondrousova. An edition that brought back some sad memories for the Tunisian, who, however, hopes to be able to return and finally win the much dreamed Wimbledon title.

"Elina played a really great match. I haven't seen the other matches. But I felt that even talking to my team, it was a solid match. I take a lot of positives because, even though I feel like I didn't play my best, I tried to bounce back in the second set. I had my chance to bounce back, but that's tennis. I hope I can definitely learn from this match and be stronger in the second half of the season. It was a little bit difficult to remember last year. Especially not playing that well and not serving as well as I wanted in the first set, in particular. It brought back some sad memories. I will continue to love Centre Court and I hope to come back and win again," she expined.

Svitolina, at the on-court after her stunning win over Jabuer, analyzed the match against the Tunisian, praising her opponent and expressing some disappointment for her husband Gael Monfils' loss to Grigor Dimitrov in the 3rd round of the London Major.

"Today was a bit of a different story for our family. It was really disappointing that Gael lost, but I think Grigor played unbelievably. I was a bit inspired by his performance yesterday. With Gael's support today, it's really great to have him next to me. Always supporting me. Always there for me. It's special. It's not easy to play against a champion like Ons. She's had two great finals here. It's always very difficult to play on grass. It was important to take one point at a time and focus. I played great tennis today and I was happy with how I handled the difficult moments today. I'm really relieved and happy with my performance," she said.
