What a shock for the Ladies Singles at Wimbledon! The women's tournament lost WTA No.1 Iga Swiatek and the finalist of the last two editions Ons Jabuer in a matter of minutes, reserving for the crowd two big surprises, which sensationally opened the top-half of the main draw. And to think that the Polish player had thought - and a lot! - about her first historic triumph at the Championships, given her - in her opinion - constant improvements on grass, as Iga herself had explained on the medya day on the eve of the the All England Club Major.

Swiatek, however, was sensationally defeated in the 3rd round by Yulia Putintseva, who perhaps played the best match of her career. At the press conference, teh Pole explained that if she could play Wimbledon again in a month, she would be super determined to win, but she also highlighted how hard it was to go from a surface where she plays her best tennis like clay-courts to a surface where she has more difficulties like grass, even joking with the media.

"If I had another Wimbledon in two months, I would be really determined and confident, and I would focus really hard on working on it. But that will be a year from now. That won't happen in a year. Obviously they are determined in every tournament. This part of the season is not easy. We are halfway through the season and we are changing surfaces. Going from this type of tennis where I feel like I'm playing the best tennis of my life to another surface where I struggle a little bit more, it's not easy. All of those things combine to make me not having a lot of fun at Wimbledon! But again, I feel like I'm going to do the best job I can on the recording. If I had more energy for the tournament, I could work on that and focus on the right things. I let Yulia back in the second set. I shouldn't have done that. I made some mistakes as well. But she definitely took her chance. I think it's never just one person. We're literally playing a tennis match. It's also about what I'm playing," she explained.

Putintseva, in the on-court interview, revealed her feelings after the splendid victory over Swiatek, analyzing:

"It's amazing. I feel really good. I don't know. I was so focused on playing fast and not giving her time. It worked, so that's kind of it. When I was playing I thought I had already beaten the world No. 1 on grass. I think it was fate. I'm just happy that I played so well. You guys brought me back to life after the first set. Really. I honestly have no words. It was a great energy from all of you today. I felt it on the court. That's why I was like a fire. I was trying to entertain you more and more with my shots. I was getting energy from you guys. Thank you."
