David Goffin started to become popular in the tennis world when in 2012, he lost to Roger Federer in four sets at Roland Garros. It was a close match and after that match Goffin asked Federer for an autograph on his t-shirt. 'I was 21 and many Belgians were seeing me for the first time. It's always so hard to play Federer, it's fantastic the way he hits the ball, he's a great man on and off court, that's the reason why he is the idol of many kids and not only,' Goffin said to Sky Sport.
Then talking about Novak Djokovic, Goffin mentioned, 'In order to beat him I have to approach the match like if I was facing a player like the others. It's impressive how Djokovic is always very focused on every match, every game.
Mentally he is incredible, he tries to give his best in all the tournaments and results prove it.' Speaking about the changes in the sport, Goffin added, 'Physically tennis is faster and the level has been raised in an incredible way.
Mentally if you are not focused all the time on the match you lose many points.' Lastly, Goffin talked about how he enjoyed travelling as a tennis player. 'I enjoy my tennis life travelling, if I did not like travelling I would stop playing tennis.
I think when you are 34-35 many players retire because they do not want to travel anymore,' he observed. ALSO READ: Happy Birthday Roger Federer: his 35 years in numbers!
