There's not much time to go for her first round match at the US Open, but Swiss player Timea Bacsinszky is struggling with illness. The world no. 16 has been suffering from an unknown virus that's forced her to remain in the bed for almost a week.

´My lymph gland completely swollen, I did not take anthibiotics, only vitamins. I rested a lot and I hope to be healthy again. It all started at the Olympic Games, I got sick after the intense doubles match on Wednesday and then I went to Cincinnati and New Haven.

I maybe should have cut my schedule because I was tired. Sometimes the health should be the priority but it´s always easy to do it after,´ said the Swiss, clarifying about the status of her heath. She will play her first match against Vitalia Diatchenko.

Speaking about her chances in the match, with regard to her health, she mentioned confidently, ´I am better and it´s nothing serious.´ Story by Le Matin Also Read Sloane Stephens pulls out of US Open!
