At the start of the season, Swiss rising star, Timea Bacsinszky had been suffering from a knee injury but in a recent interview has revealed that her recovery progress is owed to the World No 3, Stan Wawrinka. "In Indian Wells, he sat down with me...I was coming back from an injury, and many times the press [would ask me] 'What happened today?'" Bacsinszky said.
"He told me to not use [my injury] as an excuse anymore." "He inspires me a lot. You have the [natural] talent of Roger and then you compare Stan. His talent is that he's a huge worker." As simple as it sounds, Wawrinka advised her country woman to focus on the level of play and stop worrying about the reasons for her poor form.
The advice seemed to have worked out pretty decently as Bacsinszky was able to turn her season around by reach the last four in Miami, earning herself a WTA title while also finishing in the last 8 at the French Open.
