French tennis player Jo Wilfried Tsonga says the 2008 Paris Masters has a special place in his heart. Tsonga made it all the way in front of his home fans that year, winning his first ever Masters 1000 title. On his way to claiming the title, the Frenchman defeated Radek Stepanek, Novak Djokovic, Andy Roddick, James Blake and David Nalbandian in the final.
''My best moment (on a tennis court) I think was the (2008) final in Paris Bercy,'' Tsonga told Tennismash. ''I won against (David) Nalbandian in the final and all my friends, all my family were in the stands, and that’s maybe the most beautiful thing that can happen to somebody.'' Since winning the Paris event in 2008, the 31-year-old world number eight has yet to win it all in Bercy.
He was close to having a victorious run a couple of years ago - but fell short in the 2011 Paris final to Roger Federer. It remains to be seen if Tsonga can put on a great week in Paris once again in the future, and collect his second title at the Parisian Masters 1000 event.
