Francesca Schiavone skips WTA Rome: 'I don't want to argue'

A classy Francesca Schiavone announced that, although she entered the qualifying draw of the Rome event, she won't play at the Foro Italico. The Milan native, who was denied a wild card by organizers who have chosen Maria Sharapova and Sara Errani, was the 15th alternate when the entry list came out a few weeks ago, and she didn't think she could make it.

So that's why now she is 'in another part of the World' than Italy, in Miami where she trains for several months per year. 'At the end of the Madrid event I have chosen to come back home and to prepare because I was out (from making it) by much.

So I cannot say goodbye to you which is the most beautiful gift the sport could make me. I am not here to polemize, I am here to thank you and to say that maybe one day we will manage to hold an exhibition and I will make you live emotions again', said the World No.

77 through her official Facebook page. She will play in the Roland Garros main draw next. Surely the fact that organizers did not give her a wild card made her motivation drop, and so that's why she came back to Miami straightaway after losing in the Spaniard event.
