Croatian tennis player Mate Pavic didn't hide the joy and happiness after putting on the most impressive fortnight of his career as he claimed the Australian Open men's doubles and mixed doubles glories. The 24-year-old and partner Oliver Marach beat Colombia's Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah in Saturday's men's doubles final -- before the Croatian and Canadia's Gabriela Dabrowski edged Timea Babos and Rohan Bopanna in the mixed doubles final just a day later.
Pavic was on the brink of not ending up with two titles -- but he and Dabrowski saved a match point in the final before they clinched a hard-fought 2-6 6-4 11-9 win. “It feels pretty good, I have to say,” Pavic said of the two titles post-match.
“I did not imagine that I'm able to do that. If somebody would have told me, I wouldn't believe him.” 2017 French Open mixed doubles champion Dabrowski was also in great spirits after the match as she will now certainly be hoping to add the Wimbledon and US Open mixed doubles glories to her collection.
"I'm super happy,” Dabrowski said. “Australia has always been one of my favourite places in the whole world. It feels really special to be able to do well and play well and win here.” Also read: Casper Ruud says he has always loved humble idol Rafael Nadal
