Spain's Nicolas Almagro is still not sure when he will be able to return to competitive action. The 32-year-old underwent a knee surgery this past December. The 13-time ATP champion last played in September at the Rome 4 Challenger.

World No. 188 Almagro hoped to return to action at this week's Alicante Challenger. Unfortunately, the Spaniard wasn't ready to make a return in front of his home fans. "I still do not know when I can return but I have to be patient and see how everything develops," Almagro said.

Almagro underwent two knee surgeries last year. The Spaniard badly injured his knee during his match against Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro at last year's French Open. The 32-year-old former world No. 9 left the court in tears.

Almagro returned to action in August and played five tournaments before he was forced to once again undergo a knee surgery. Also read: The massive growth of John Isner
