John McEnroe refuses $1 million to play a match against a Williams sister

In June 2017, John McEnroe went on to make headlines for saying that Serena Williams would be ranked around the 700th position on the ATP Tour and that he, if he were still playing, he would be ranked at least in the 500th place in the WTA.

McEnroe was recently offered an unexpected $1,000,000 cheque by the current US President Donald Trump asking him to face one of the Williams sisters, Serena or Venus, in a tennis match. McEnroe said that he had declined the offer but he didn't mention clearly as to when he had received the offer.

He, however, stated that the offer was made before Trump became the US President. 'I was calling a match and suddenly I get this envelope and it's from Donald Trump,' McEnroe said. He also explained his decision: 'It's never been something where I was like, I wanna go play a woman in a match.' Source: TMZ ALSO READ: Serena Williams pulls out of Rome as well!
