Ernests Gulbis warns rivals: 'If I play like this, I can beat anybody'

Ernests Gulbis was a top ten player four years ago after reaching the French Open semifinals, then he dropped down on the rankings again and is now looking to rise. The Latvian player beat John Isner to reach the Stockholm Open final and will now face the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas.

In press conference, Gulbis said: 'I like the way I am playing now, I like the way I am feeling, the way I am hitting and moving. If I play like this, I can beat anybody. I can give anybody trouble, for sure, so it is not going to be an easy match for Stefanos tomorrow.

It is probably not going to be an easy match in general.' About his thoughts on playing against Stefanos Tsitsipas, Gulbis said: 'I don’t have thoughts about him, I just only have thoughts about my game. I like the way I’m playing now, the way I’m hitting and moving and I feel if I continue to play like this I can beat anybody.' Gulbis was also asked about the much noise at the Stockholm Open: 'I just like that when people are coming to a tennis match, they actually watch the tennis.

If they want to talk they can go to a bar or a restaurant...' The 30-year-old will not stop, as next week he competes at the Swiss Indoors in Basel. He will open his campaign on Tuesday or Wednesday against the America's Jack Sock.
