Simona Halep eyes 2019 Wimbledon title: 'I want new Major trophy'

Simona Halep is ready to have a great 2019 season. The Romanian is set to start the new year at the Shenzhen Open where earlier this year she won the title defeating Katerina Siniakova in a three-set final. Halep skipped the WTA Finals in Singapore and is trying to recover. 'If the back injury gets solved, I will be able to work, I hope it goes well, I want a new Grand Slam trophy, it's a goal every year.

I won French Open, now Wimbledon is the goal', said Halep, who reached 2014 semifinals at the All England Club losing to Eugenie Bouchard. 'I am confident it will be a good year even if it could be tougher to start because in the late end of the season I did not play too many matches.' The former French Open winner Virginia Ruzici said: 'Wimbledon is a nice goal and I think she can do it but to get confidence having a good season is the key.

The start will not be easy, we need to be patient, not criticize on every match.' ALSO READ: Rafael Nadal: Worse players than David Ferrer won a Grand Slam title
