Australian Daria Gavrilova might have a dicey start to her 2019 season but she is looking forward to playing Fed Cup for her nation, who visit USA and play North Carolina this weekend. She is the eldest out of the young brigade of Australian girls consisting of in-form players like Ashleigh Barty, Kimberly Birrell, Priscilla Hon and Astra Sharma.
Yet to taste a win this year, Gavrilova bowed out in the Opening Rounds of the Australian Open and St Petersburg Ladies Trophy but believes that playing for Australia will give her the much needed boost required to get her game back on track.
Australia take on USA in the Opening World Group Tie taking place in Asheville. "It will even be more special to get my first win not just for myself but Australia and my teammates," Gavrilova told reporters. Australian Fed Cup Team Captain Alicia Molik will announce who will Australia's singles and doubles matches for the Tie a day before the actually matches are taking place. "I think we have a great young team and I think we can do some damage," she said.
