Richard Gasquet: 'I am a tennis player again'

In an interview to L'Equipe Richard Gasquet analyzed his three-set loss to Jeremy Chardy in Rome. The 32-year-old said: "It's my third match since my injury, I could not dream better. I did not think I would have been there.

I played my trial first set only two weeks ago. One month ago I was painful everywhere. I am very happy with my three sets against Jeremy. It's unexpected. I was able to play long sets, which makes me less worried. It will take a while to find a good level but I am already a new tennis player again.

That's already very good for me. Before Madrid, I would have signed to be where I am now. It was easier when I was on the top ten rankings! "Now I just have to play matches - the Frenchman added - I will play in Lyon next.

I need matches. And I do not want to put everything on the French Open. I do not think about that. Five sets, it will be very complicated. I do not have goals for the French. It's already nice for me not to feel pain where I got the surgery."
