Hugo Nys , 28, thinks he and partner Romain Arneodo deserved to win their maiden ATP doubles team title in Los Cabos. Monaco's Nys and Arneodo edged out top seeds Dominic Inglot and Austin Krajicek 7-5 5-7 16-14 in the Los Cabos final.

"We've been working a lot so now we can just enjoy. I think we deserved it. It was a tough week, and we ended up with the trophy so we're very happy," Nys said post-match, as revealed on the ATP website. Nys and Arneodo fought back from 5-2 down in the first set to win five games in a row and steal the opener.

Nys and Arneodo then survived a match tie-break thriller as they saved two championship points before converting their seventh championship point to win the title. "Finals are always tough. We have to be ready also for the tension.

The emotional part is very big in this kind of match, and we have to deal with it. We're also very proud of what we've done mentally because we lost a few match points and came back. It feels even better, because mentally we were strong," Arneodo said.

Arneodo and Nys clinched four tight wins in Los Cabos en route to their maiden title as they didn't win a single match in straight sets at the Mexican event.
