Stan Wawrinka was safisfied with his straight-set win over Grigor Dimitrov in Montreal. After prevailing 6-,4 6-4, the Swiss player said: "It was a great match. I'm really happy. It's always difficult to play against Grigor, but I think I served really well.
I was aggressive on the court. I'm happy with the match and the atmosphere. It's always amazing to come back to Montreal. I did a lot of practice, I put in a lot of hard work to be at a great level... I'm happy with where I am right now."
Wawrinka will play seed Karen Khachanov in the second round. The Russian received a bye in the first round. Bradney Schnur, who lost to Tommy Paul in straight sets, said: "It was great for the whole hour that it lasted.
Yeah, there's not much more I can say about my performance today. Pretty disappointed. This is my favorite tournament to come back to every two years. I have to wait two more years to come back here. I had an hour of fun out there."
Asked what he thinks he needs to improve in order to get to a higher level, Schnur added: "A lot of things. A lot of things. It's a hard question to answer. I don't really have an answer for that right now. I'm kind of lost for words."
