Tommy Haas on possibly bringing Agassi and Sampras to Indian Wells

In an interview to Tennis Magazin the former world No. 2 Tommy Haas commented on his role as the BNP Paribas Open Tournament Director in Indian Wells. The German said: "I have been knowing the tournament owner Larry Ellison for years.

We became good friends, we have common interests and also common activities. For tennis we share a big love, we can speak about it at day and night. Every time I was at Indian Wells event, I enjoyed myself a lot... After the former CEO Raymond Moore's leave, the tournament organizers contacted me."

On possibly seeing Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras playing an exhibition in Indian Wells, Haas added: "I still have a good relationship with them. I would like to show respect for my idols. Pete has a house near Indian Wells and he often plays golf there.

If he is in the place and he wants to play a charity or exhibition match, he is welcome! Andre is often around, because he knows a lot of people involved in the tournament." On his relationship with Boris Becker, Haas concluded: "I am a fan of Boris, it does not matter what happened to me and him over the last years.

When we see each other, we hug and speak of tennis. When I see him on the grounds, I feel like he is in my corner in Davis Cup. There are always people who ask me about Boris", concluded Haas, who is also the Tournament Ambassador in Stuttgart Mercedes Cup, Vienna Erste Bank Open and Mallorca Open as his former agent Edwin Weindorfer is involved in the organization.
