Austrian tennis star Dominic Thiem intends to play an aggressive style of play when he meets world No. 87 Thomas Fabbiano in the US Open first round. Thiem, 25, and 30-year-old Fabbiano will be clashing against each other for the first time in their respective careers when they meet on the hard courts of the US Open.
Fabbiano, a former world No. 70, will be aiming to stun No. 4 seed Thiem -- who hasn't had an ideal preparation for the US Open. "Fabbiano plays very solid from the baseline, but I will try to shorten points because I don't think I'll get through long rallies physically.
I will try to play aggressive and go straight to the point," Thiem told ORF, as revealed by Twitter user De Nela. World No. 4 Thiem has played only one hard-court since Wimbledon. After a quarterfinal showing at the Montreal Masters, the Austrian pulled out of the Cincinnati Masters and spent a couple of days in bed due to cold.
