Gael Monfils and Elina Svitolina have not been posting anything so far at the US Open on their joint Instagram account. The Ukrainian player explained the reasons behind it. "That's actually his problem because I tell him we have couple of ideas", said Svitolina.
"I tell him, Come on, we have to post something. He's like, Okay, let me win my first round, then we post. He won his first, nothing. I'm like, Okay, let me win mine. Because we are playing different days, that's why it's a bit tricky.
People like to throw some comments or to say that we need to focus on tennis. But I will try to convince him maybe tonight." Svitolina said she doesn't spend too much time in New York City: "Since I'm with Gael, it's more focus, saving energy.
Not much. I know the restaurants, few restaurants around the hotel. That's pretty much it." Svitolina also spoke about her shape: "I don't really feel any different. I feel good now. I'm enjoying playing on the court.
Enjoying atmosphere maybe little bit more. I have little bit less pressure now. That's maybe what's changed. For the rest not much. I've been playing on Armstrong as last year a lot, as well. That's nice. I like that court. I think I haven't lost a match on that court yet. I have a perfect record (smiling)."
