Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas is motivated to perform well at the Laver Cup this week as he feels he has something to prove after a series of bad results. Tsitsipas, ranked at No. 7 in the world, will be joined in Team Europe by Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev and Fabio Fognini.
After a semifinal loss in Washington, Tsitsipas lost his openers at the Masters 1000 events in Montreal and Cincinnati before he also picked up a first round exit at the US Open. However, the Greek won four Davis Cup matches over this past weekend as he is hoping to soon rediscover his old form and confidence and put on a strong end to the season.
"There’s gonna be a lot of competition between us, who’s gonna be better, a lot of responsibility. I really hope I play well there because I have a lot of things to prove, that I belong in the best European players among them," Tsitsipas said, as revealed by Reem Abulleil on Twitter.
Team World will be represented by John Isner, Milos Raonic, Taylor Fritz, Nick Kyrgios, Denis Shapovalov and Jack Sock.
