Former British tennis player Naomi Cavaday felt that Daniil Medvedev and Roger Federer will take note of Novak Djokovic’s loss at the Shanghai Masters. The Serb lost to Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in quarter-finals in three sets after taking the opener 6-3.
Tsitsipas will face Medvedev for a place in the Finals of the ATP Masters Event taking place in China. “Well they have all got very tough matches ahead so they have got to try and get over that,” Cavaday said on Amazon Prime.
“But I think a couple of eyebrows will be raised, particularly for Medvedev who is the next opponent and will now play Tsitsipas”. The Swiss is yet to add a title to his tally of 102 titles, keeping him 9 behind Jimmy Connors as he looks to add one more title to his name.
“Very good. I think he has got to be relatively happy,” Cavaday said of Federer’s 2019 season. “Yes he didn’t manage to get over the line at the heartbreaker at Wimbledon but he has won a huge amount of matches and has stayed fit for another full season”.
“That is an excellent effort as well. That is the No 1 target. He has played some excellent stuff and picked up some titles. Okay he didn’t get a Grand Slam that he was looking for but he had opportunities and was really in the mix”.
“He is still in these big tournaments and here in Shanghai he is the highest ranked player left in the tournament”. She further added, “He is still winning. He wants veery record going. Anything he can get his hands on he wants to achieve, I’m sure of it.
This is a huge tournament winning another masters. It is a really big deal for him. he has often spoke about that”. “When we talk about major titles these Masters are included with the Slams as well”.
