Romanian doubles specialist Horia Tecau used the word "special" to describe the 20th team title captured by him and his partner Jean-Julien Rojer at the Swiss Indoors Basel. Tecau and Rojer, seeded at No. 4, used all of their experience in the Basel final to overcome rising American stars Taylor Fritz and Reilly Opelka 7-5 6-3 and claim their second title of the year.
"It is special. We have been coming here for a few years and we enjoyed being here, but we never got to a final here. I made the semis twice, so it was really special to play the first final here and get the title,” Tecau said, per the ATP website.
“Being the 20th, I didn’t know until after the final but it will be a special place in our memories." Fritz, 21, and 22-year-old Opelka were playing their first team final. "The difference was the combined experience of Horia and I, he’s 34 and I’m 38," Rojer claimed. “They are obviously great opponents, very dangerous, they serve well and they obviously play very well."
