Slovakia's Filip Polasek was happy to end his season with a win despite failing to qualify for the semifinal of the Nitto ATP Finals. Polasek and his partner Dodig avoided finishing Group Jonas Bjorkman winless aftee beating South-African Raven Klaasen and Kiwi Michael Venus 7-6 (4) 6-4.
Klaasen and Venus entered the match hoping to clinch its third win and enter the semifinals with a perfect record. "It’s awesome to win here. The atmosphere throughout the week has been great,” Polasek said after the match, per the ATP website.
“It’s been an unbelievable journey. I’m really happy we can finish the season with a win here. There’s no better feeling." Polasek and Dodig debuted as a team at the Antalya Open at the end of June.
Since then, Dodig and Polasek claimed two titles in three finals played and also made semifinals on four separate occasions. "I think we had an amazing season. We played 11 tournaments together and now we’re here in London,” Dodig said. “To close the season with a win here is a great feeling. We’re looking forward to next year."
