Elina Svitolina spoke about her love story with fellow tennis player, France's Gael Monfils. They have been dating each other for a year now. They confirmed their relationship and made it official at the 2019 Australian Open.
"We spend a lot of time together. We have enough time to speak to each other. There are just three or four events where we do not coincide. We have a very intense schedule and a training routine. When we manage to find some free time, we hang out in a romantic place and we enjoy ourselves."
On how often she travels to Ukraine, Svitolina added: "Unfortunately, I do not come to Ukraine all the times I would like to. I would like to spend more time at home and, to be honest, I consider Odessa as my home. I meet my family and my grandmother.
I love Ukrainian food and I love chatting with my dear ones. It makes me feel totally relaxed mentally." On how sports can grow in the country, Svitolina added: "I think it's very important to be careful about the kids.
There are many younger people in Ukraine that need development and support. You also need to be careful about the development of sports facilities. All those problems will be handled by the Elina Svitolina Foundation, that (have) started. We plan to open training programmes for kids, to support younger players economically around the world."
