Elina Svitolina shares why she hired Marcos Baghdatis

In an interview with BTU, Elina Svitolina spoke about the reasons why she added Marcos Baghdatis to her coaching team. The Ukrainian player said: "We met Marcos at the Champions Tennis League match in India in 2015 and already there he helped me on many things.

Then I still worked with my coach Ian Hughes. Baghdatis is a high-level athlete, he understands details that can be very important at this level. He can help me in difficult game situations since he went through these difficulties himself.he also helped me a lot at the WTA Finals in Singapore in 2018.

He was not there but I spoke with him and his advice helped me a lot mentally. At the time I asked him if he would have liked to become my coach but he was still playing and it was not possible. I always wanted to work with him.

Along with Andrew Bettles, we thought that Baghdatis is the man who can help me in tennis and i am grateful to Andy for having made me done this step. We planned that he would be with us in tournaments for around 25 weeks. We will speak with him in which tournaments he will be in and during the Australian swing he will definitely be with me.

We will make little changes game-wise. I have my gamestyle so there will not be big changes. I need to improve and be more consistent."
