Stan Wawrinka reveals ultimate goal for 2020 season

Stan Wawrinka lost to John Isner and Lucas Pouille at the Diriyah Cup in Saudi Arabia. The Swiss player is not really satisfied with his level. "My serve doesn't work that well yet. In both matches, I did not play great in the key points.

My baseline game was pretty good. I can create pressure if I have time. With a good server like Isner, there are just a few rallies," admitted the Lausanne native. Wawrinka will train with his coach Magnus Norman in Stockholm, Sweden, in the next weeks.

"Most part of the fitness training is complete. Now I have to work on my tennis. I still have a lot of work ahead of me, but also enough time to do it." Wawrinka has already some ideas on his goals. The biggest one is to crack the top ten rankings again.

"I know what it takes to win the biggest tournaments. Now I am trying to do the right things for it. I think the good results and the good tennis are within me. I hope to be able to still win some titles. The last one was a long time ago.

It would be the first step", said Wawrinka who plans to have a light schedule in the future. "I was never a player who plays too many events. As you get older, the less tennis you need to improve your performances. I need more time to recover."

After Doha, Wawrinka plans to play the Australian Open where he won the first of his three Grand Slam titles in 2014. "There are many memories. We look at so many matches and we train so hard for that moment. It was an incredible feeling. I love the Australian Open."
