Bulgarian world No. 517 Alexandar Lazarov has nothing but big admiration for Grigor Dimitrov as he is happy to be able to learn from the 2017 Nitto ATP Finals champion. Lazarov, 22, proved his worth at the ATP Cup as he and Dimitrov stunned Great Britain's Jamie Murray and Joe Salisbury 7-6 (5) 6-7 (2) 11-9 in the deciding rubber to give Bulgaria its first win at the event.
"It’s unbelievable… Just to be able to learn from such a player, it’s amazing,” Lazarov told the ATP Cup. “He’s one of the most professional guys I’ve ever seen on Tour and it’s very easy to see and to know what you have to work on."
Lazarov introduced himself to the tennis world on Friday and made the headlines in Bulgaria. "I’m still trying [to take it in]. It’s been unbelievable feedback from all the people in my country and it’s just amazing to see how good we get along and we just have fun.
It’s amazing,” Lazarov said. “The job is not done, we still have a few more matches. So we’ll try to do our best and hopefully tomorrow we’re going to perform well again and get another win."
