The 23-year-old First Seed, Australian Ashleigh Barty had orchestrated an ominous performance on Wednesday (January 22nd) to seize a resounding victory over the Slovenian 29-year-old Polona Hercog, moving in to the third round following a riant display in the hardcourt of Rod Laver Arena.

Although the Aussie hope had cruised through to the opening set, yet had to press hard to battle past the Slovenian in the second set to round off the match with a solid 6-1, 6-4 triumph. Meanwhile, adding that the assiduous Australian, Ashleigh Barty, had been feeling more and more comfortable every day, which eventually had allayed some concerns of her huge Aussie fan base, the 23-year-old said in a post-match press conference on Wednesday (January 22nd), “Every time you're able to win a match, you have another opportunity to try and be that little bit better, to try to be that little bit more sharp and clean.

I felt like I started a lot better today, and then the second set, as well, was able to get out of some sticky service games towards the end of the set there. ” Ashleigh Barty will take on the 20-year-old 29th Seed, Kazakh-Russ tennis glam, Elena Rybakina, on Friday (January 24th) at her third round ’20 AO match.
