Naomi Osaka reached the semifinal of the Australian Open 2021 by beating Su-Wei Hsieh in straigh sets, with the final score of 6-2 6-2. In the press conference after the match, the Japanese talked about the match and abiut her idol Serena Williams.

She said: "I'm really happy with how I played - every time I play her it's such a battle and despite the score it was another battle for me. It makes me a bit more calm, just knowing that even though my back was severely against the wall I still had opportunities.

Even today when I had two match points and she saved them both, normally I feel like I would have panicked but today I was pretty calm. About Serena Williasm, Osaka said: "I always watch Serena's matches, anyway. Definitely going to be real fun.

I keep the TV on the tennis, right? But if there's an interesting match to watch, I'll watch it. It's just kind of interesting to watch her form. For me, I grew up watching Serena, Federer, Nadal. It's just more of a habit than anything.

I feel like everyone in the tournament watches her."

Simona Halep: "Serena Williams is a legend!"

On the eve of the most exceptional player clash of the Australian Open 2021, the Romanian player Simona Halep praised her rival Serena Williams.

In the pre matxh interview she said: “Serena is a legend. The best. I must not think too much that I am playing against her, it is not a good idea. But I have so many encounters with her. I'll try to play as best I can because that's the only way you can beat her." After facing a nightmare opponent in the previous round, number 2 seed Simona Halep will then face the American tennis player, against whom she has already played 11 more times.

In head-to-head, Serena leads 9-3. Serena won the 2019 r16 at the Australian Open, but we have to recall that Halep defeated Williams in the Wimbledon final of the same year. On Sunday, a 29-year-old Romanian tennis ace finished the fourth round of her Happy Slam with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 scoring win against Roland Garros winner Iga Swiatek.

For reaching the quarter-finals for the fifth time at the Ausstralian Open, Halep scored three aces and converted four of ten breakpoints.
