Roger Federer's come back to the court this season was a bit traumatic. After 13 months of absence and a double surgery Federer won his first match in the ATP tournament in Doha against Daniel Evans, but surrendered in the second match to the Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili, tennis player who then conquered the tournament.
Compared to the hatrd-courts tournament, Federer appeared quite behind at the Geneva Open, a clay tournament that saw him lose on his debut against the Spaniard Pablo Andujar. Right now they are re-proposing Roger's statements at the Australian Open 2020 when the Swiss talked about the challenge at the GOAT.
Here are his words: "I think the way things are going Djokovic and Nadal will win more titles than me, they are really great athletes and have been showing in recent seasons that they don't want to stop. As for me I have had a great career but I have always said that everything that comes after 15 was a great advantage." Currently Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal lead the ranking of the Majors with 20 Grand Slam titles, while Novak Djokovic chases with 18.
We are now on the eve of the Roland Garros 2021, the main tournament among those played on clay courts and the second Grand Slam tournament of the year. There is great anticipation for this event which will see protagonists, all together again, after more than a year, the Big Three, composed of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.
Just the Swiss is absent from the Grand Slams from the Australian Open 2020. The scoreboard has given us a further sense of curiosity since the Big Three will all be protagonists of the same side of the scoreboard and therefore only one will be able to reach the final.
Together the three of them have won 58 Grand Slams and their pursuit to understand who will finish the season with the most titles continues to go on. Although Roger Federer will be 40 years old in August he does not give up and continues to play, he will be the protagonist both at Roland Garros and especially at Wimbledon, his priority objective this season.
